Overview of Social Studies Education Study Program (Bachelor Program)

Program Advantages

1. Accredited with an “Excellent” rank under LAMDIK Decree No. 1102/SK/LAMDIK/Ak/S/XI/2023, valid from 20 November 2023 to 19 November 2028.
2. The only undergraduate Social Studies Education program in the Priangan Timur region that offers Regular, Working Professional Program, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) classes.
3. Courses are taught by highly qualified lecturers, who are top graduates of leading universities and hold doctoral or master’s degrees in their respective fields.

5. The program adopts a humanistic educational approach with the motto “educating, not scolding; guiding, not humiliating” to strengthen graduates’ social character, emphasizing Social Studies Education based on religious values, socio‑cultural values, and local wisdom.
6. The on‑time graduation rate is 97%, with some students completing their studies early in the 7th semester and the rest graduating on time in the 8th semester. Over the last three years, graduates have achieved an average GPA of 3.54.

1. The Undergraduate Social Studies Education Study Program (Pendidikan IPS) at FPISBS IPI Garut has held an “Excellent/A” accreditation status since its establishment in 2018, surpassing the typical achievement level for a newly established study program.
2. The Undergraduate Social Studies Education Study Program (Pendidikan IPS) at FPISBS IPI Garut consistently ranks among the study programs with the highest internal quality, as reflected in Internal Quality Audit results that highlight the strong performance of the program management, lecturers, students, and alumni.
3. Each year, some students graduate through an accelerated track in 3.5 years (7 semesters), while the others finish on time in 4 years (8 semesters), resulting in a graduation rate of 97% and an average GPA of 3.54 over the last three years, which falls into the Cum Laude (With Honors) category.

Several graduates of the Undergraduate Social Studies Education Study Program at FPISBS IPI Garut have continued their studies at the master’s level (S2) in public universities, both in closely related fields and in other disciplines, and many have also progressed to the Pre‑service Teacher Professional Education (PPG Prajabatan) program—particularly those from the regular and employee classes with a senior high school background—as well as to the In‑service Teacher Professional Education (PPG Dalam Jabatan) program for those in the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) track.
5. Career opportunities for becoming a professional Social Studies (IPS) teacher remain wide open, as there is still a significant shortage of qualified IPS teachers whose academic background directly matches the subject they teach.
